The head of the Commission receives a member of the French National Assembly and a member of the European Parliament
Mr. Faraj Haidari, head of the Commissioners Board of the Independent High Electoral Commission, received Mr. Lorwar, member of the French National Assembly, and Rashida Dathi, member of the European Parliament and former minister of justice, and the delegation accompanying them.
Mr. Haidari praised the efforts of the French delegation and all international observers in supporting the Commission of asking all to take care of their impartiality and indicate the faults in the integrity of the democratic process if seen.
Haidari answered some questions of Mr. Lorwar, which were about the mechanism of registering the local and international observers, explaining that there is a special committee in the Commission follows the affairs of the observers, whom their conditions of registration conform with the conditions the Commission put. He also answered an other question about the time the Commission needs for announcing the results, saying:
"the opened list system which the Commission followed in voting for this election needs a long time and we also have elections at 16 countries abroad, special voting and conditional voting, therefore we need a time to shorten it in opening the data entry center, which is the largest center of its kind in the idle East, the international and local observers and the political entities representatives can observe through the screens. Therefore we hope announce the results quickly but we can’t determine the exact date.
In a question about the mechanism of transferring the secure sacks from the poll stations to the Commission headquarters… Haidari replied: the station doors will be closed exactly at 5:00 pm in (7/March/2010 and the international and local observers remain for completing the counting and sorting process, and the votes the political entities get will be registered. The results will be explained in the form of four copies put in secure sacks and could not be opened except by secret numbers, one of the copies will be attached in the same station and the others will be transferred by protection of security forces and the observers have right to follow up till the sacks will reach the headquarters. This transparency is not available in a lot of the world democratic experiences. He added: "the observer can report if he/she saw any violations and he/she sign the results in the end of the counting and sorting process".
