1- I’m an Iraqi expatriate and live outside Iraq. Can I participate in the 2010 Iraqi parliamentary election?

Answer: yes, you can if you were eligible and could prove your eligibility via two formal documents, one contains new personal photo. They have to verify the following conditions

-prove your Iraqi nationality.
-prove you were born at or before 31-12-1992.
-prove your belongingness to a governorate inside Iraq.
-prove your identity.


2-I’m an Iraqi citizen and live outside my country and of the Iraqi documents I just have Iraqi nationality certificate, but I have other foreign papers, can I vote?


Answer: yes, every Iraqi, who has Iraqi nationality certificate, can participate in the 2010 parliamentary elections, but he has to hold any other Iraqi, international or foreign document like (trade license, retirement identity, residence document, etc.) in addition to the above mentioned document.

3-I’m an Iraqi citizen and live outside my country and of the Iraqi documents I just have Iraqi civil identity, but I have other foreign papers, can I vote?

Answer: yes, every Iraqi, who has Iraqi civil identity, can participate in the 2010 parliamentary elections, but he has to hold any other Iraqi, international or foreign document like (trade license, retirement identity, residence document, etc.) besides the above mentioned document.

4- I’m an Iraqi citizen and live outside my country and of the Iraqi documents I just have Iraqi nationality book issued at 1957, but I have other foreign papers, can I vote?






Answer: yes, every Iraqi, who has Iraqi nationality book issued at 1957, can participate in the 2010 parliamentary elections but he has to hold any other Iraqi, international or foreign document like (trade license, retirement identity, residence document, etc.) besides the above mentioned document.

5- I’m an Iraqi citizen and live outside my country and of the Iraqi documents I just have Iraqi passport (type G), but I have other foreign papers, can I vote?

Answer: yes, every Iraqi, who has Iraqi passport (type G), can participate in the 2010 parliamentary election, but the passport must contain visa or residence permission and he has to hold any other Iraqi, international or foreign document like (trade license, retirement identity, residence document, etc.) besides the above mentioned document.

6-we are a group of Iraqis, who left Iraq long time ago, and we have foreign passports contain place of birth in Iraq, can we vote?

Answer: the Iraqis, who have foreign passports cannot vote , just because the foreign passports prove their identity and age, but after bringing something proves Iraqi nationality and belongingness to a governorate inside Iraq. Because foreign passports will not be considered one of the documents prove the governorate they belong to.

7-I’m an Iraqi refugee left Iraq because of the security conditions and followed the international organizations for registering myself as a refugee, do I have right to vote?

Answer: all Iraqi refugees, who have documents issued by UN Organization for refugees or Red Cross Organization, can participate in the elections if the document contained place of birth and they have to bring any other Iraqi, international or foreign document like (trade license, retirement identity, etc.).

8-I’m an Iraqi resident in a foreign country, I would like to participate in the 2010 parliamentary elections, can I do that?


Answer: the Iraqi residents outside Iraq can participate in the Iraqi parliamentary elections if they brought residence document in the foreign country and contained place of birth in Iraq, but they have to bring any other Iraqi, foreign or international document (like: health insurance identity, student identity, social insurance identity, etc.).



9-I’m originally an Iraqi person and I have a definition identity issued by the government of the country I live in now, can I participate in the 2010 Iraqi parliamentary election?

Answer: the definition identity issued by the government of the foreign countries can prove identity and age alone, therefore they have to bring an other document to prove Iraqi nationality and the governorate they belong to inside Iraq.

10- I’m an Iraqi and I study outside Iraq. I hold an Iraqi passport (type: S), is it possible to participate in the coming elections?

Answer: the Iraqi passport (type: S) in addition to (type: A, H, M, N) proves age, nationality and identity and it has to contain visa or residence permission and it needs an other document to prove the governorate, like food ration card.

11-I’m an Iraqi was born outside Iraq and I would like to participate in the 2010 Iraqi parliamentary election and I don’t have any document to prove my belongingness to any governorate inside Iraq by residence or birth. Can I participate?

Answer: the Iraqi people, who were born outside Iraq, can prove their belongingness to a governorate itself inside Iraq via their fathers’ documents exclusively for voting just to the governorate.

12-I’m an Iraqi live outside, I don’t have documents to prove that I’m Iraqi, but I belong to an Iraqi family, do I have any chance to participate in the elections?

Answer: yes, the Iraqi people, who were born outside Iraq, to prove their Iraqi nationality via their documents or their fathers’ documents exclusively for voting.
